Job Description

The Mobile Crisis Specialist will provide direct support to individuals in crisis through a mobile crisis team (MCT). This position is a behavioral health practitioner who participates in a clinical assessment of the needs of the individual in crisis. Dispatched from a number of settings such as 988 Lifeline centers and/or public or private behavioral health service organizations the Mobile Crisis Specialist will focus on crisis intervention to provide immediate care decrease emotional distress and reduce the risk of danger and harm to people who are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. Partnered with a Peer Support Specialist to promote engagement coaching and navigation the Mobile Crisis Specialist will collaborate with the patient to ensure the appropriate level of care is coordinated and/or crisis is de-escalated and stabilized.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate support during mental health and/or substance use crises utilizing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Conduct initial crisis screening and safety assessment including universal screening for suicide using developmentally appropriate standardized assessment tools.
  • Collaborate with patients to develop safety plans and coping strategies.
  • Coordinate with Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Services to determine the most appropriate level of care
  • Ensure clients are linked with other needed healthcare providers and coordinate their ongoing care.
  • Work effectively as a team member collaborating with professionals from various disciplines to provide comprehensive care and support.
  • Complete follow-up care of patient by helping to schedule outpatient appointments
  • Provide post-crisis follow-up within 72 hours of the crisis
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Complete all administrative paperwork in UKG Company Mileage and Kronos if applicable.
  • Complete all appropriate documentation within Nextgen regarding patient contacts in accordance with Bowen Health policy.
  • Support the team and be respectful of others.
  • Attend and all mandatory meetings and trainings scheduled by the Learning & Development Team or supervisor.
    • Complete General Orientation upon hire.
    • Complete Annual All Staff Training every year on the required topics assigned by the Training Department.
    • Complete all mandatory trainings assigned by the Learning & Development Team or supervisor related to the position within the appropriate time frame.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates Degree required.
  • Certificate or Professional License Required:
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) - certification must be obtained after hire and prior to providing direct patient care. This certification must be maintained and kept current through employment.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid - certification must be obtained after hire and prior to providing direct patient care. This certification must be maintained and kept current through employment.
  • A reliable vehicle is required for this position.
  • Valid drivers license and active auto insurance coverage.
  • Satisfactory results from criminal and driving record background checks
  • Must be a minimum of 25 years of age.
