About the Team & the Position
The Digital Division is accountable to operate maintain and deliver digital capabilities for all of AEMO to ensure the organisation fulfills its obligations across all jurisdictions and markets in which AEMO operates. This includes strategic technology foresight and plans delivery of digital change operation of critical infrastructure key internal stakeholder engagement as well as operation of AEMOs IT applications and services.
The Gas & Electricity Operations Digital Systems (GEODS) is accountable for the management of critical market applications (approx. 400) covering the National Energy Market (NEM) Gas Retail Markets (FRC) Victorian Gas Wholesale market (DGWM) Gas Supply Hub (GSH) Gas Bulletin Board (GBB and the Short Term Trading Market (STTM) and meets National Electricity Rule and National Gas Rule requirements.
The Senior Developer provides a lead role in requirement analysis developing maintaining and enhancing market software applications in accordance with enterprise architecture principles and the IT Strategy to support AEMO energy market operator functions.
Position Responsibilities
- Engage with stakeholders and business users when designing systems managing their expectations and understanding.
- Organise and join Requirements and Design meetings to contribute to improved project design that includes peer review and team discussion.
- Ensuring the structure of the documentation architecture software and data models is such that the system is most cost efficient secure and sound.
- Being the AEMO expert on certain internal workings of the Market systems.
- Provide innovative and quick solutions to support and maintenance needs. Lead a team to deliver solutions as assigned.
- Provide after hours on-call support as required by AEMO.
Position Requirements
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in software development in mission critical IT projects especially high availability systems.
- Strong experience in IT and software development & support in tools and technologies such as:
- Microsoft technologies (C# / .Net / )
- Web technologies (RESTful Web Services HTML5 / CSS / TypeScript / XML / VueJS) or/and
- Middleware integration (Web Methods APIM BOOMI)
- Oracle Java technologies 8 or above / JEE / JSP / JDBC beneficial but not a pre-requisite
- Experience in using Build & Source control tools unit testing. Experience in reviewing requirements and technical documentation of solution design.
- Detailed knowledge and experience in systems analysis systems design SDLC methodologies and standards used to ensure the integrity of installed applications.
- Gather considerable AEMO business knowledge in the assigned support area to support stakeholder liaison roles.
- It is DESIRABLE for the incumbent to hold the following qualifications and demonstrate experience and/or knowledge in the following areas: Knowledge & Experience (Relevant work experience required and outline the standard of experience needed. If necessary the number of years of experience may be added. Includes familiarity or conversance as with a particular subject or branch of learning)
- Technical skills in areas such as mathematics and linear programming.
- Certification in any areas of MCSD / OCA / ITIL / PMP / PRINCE2 / SCRUM.
- Continuous build and deployment using automation techniques such as automatic build unit test automation and use of test harnesses.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of organisation coordination and communication with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate and deal with people at all levels and to make prompt reliable decisions within bounds of allocated responsibility.
Education/ professional Certifications:
- Tertiary degree in computer science Data Science Information Technology or a related field.
