Masters degree and three years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

About This Role:

Student Support Coordination

• Oversee daily operations related to Graduate Student Affairs activities.
• Monitor student academic progress coordinate regular check-ins and facilitate tutoring referrals as needed.
• Act as the lead staff resource for promoting student wellness and wellbeing.
• Assist in resolving conflicts involving students and faculty fostering a supportive academic environment.
• Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures for faculty and staff addressing student affairs matters.
• Support initiatives aimed at improving communication between faculty and students.
• Coordinate and participate in key committees such as Graduate Student Affairs Academic Coordinators Graduate Studies Committee and Appeals Committee.
• Assist in designing professional development programs that support student success and career readiness.
• Develop strategies and tools such as climate surveys to reduce incidents involving students in crisis.
• Design and implement best-practice resources and training programs to educate faculty and staff on student wellness.
• Coordinate with IT to maintain and update the websites and listservs for the Office of Graduate Education and graduate student affairs.
• Collaborate with the Graduate Engagement and Outreach Coordinator to plan and support student-focused events including professional development wellness mentoring community building orientation recruitment and commencement.

Advising and Counseling

• Serve as a student advocate for graduate students providing guidance to help resolve educational and personal barriers to academic success.
• Connect students with appropriate campus resources or College of Medicine resources to support their academic and personal needs.
• Monitor the status of academic actions and appeals including researching cases tracking progress maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
• Conduct follow-up meetings with students and the Assistant Dean for Graduate Student Affairs to assess whether student needs have been met.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to address student concerns and promote a supportive academic environment.
• Coordinate with program coordinators and directors to ensure accurate course information is available for meetings with students.

Cross Collaborative Operations

• Support the overall operation of the Office of Graduate Education by performing a variety of tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
• Provide cross-functional support by stepping in to assist with duties typically handled by other team members during their absence ensuring continuity of service and operations.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as needed as directed by the supervisor director or leadership team to maintain seamless support across programs and units. These duties may vary and are not always explicitly outlined in the job description.
