The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. We are one of the largest departments in Maryland with nearly 12000 employees and a budget of more than $1 order to fulfill our mission of promoting safety we have increased security at our institutions while leading the way in innovative restorative justice projects that will help offenders reintegrate into society upon release.

This is a SPECIAL APPOINTMENT position with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
Applicants must meet all minimum (and selective) qualifications to be considered and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire. Please read all requirements before applying.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalencycertificate.
Experience: Three years of professional experience working for a public safety agency.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to2 years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college oruniversity for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying andinterpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basisfor the required experience.
Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.
1. Two years of professional experience working with a regulatory or licensing body; including reviewinginterpreting and applying requirements of statutes and regulations.
2. Three years of computer experience and preparation of accurate and professional correspondenceutilizing MS Office and other computer software systems.
Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.
1. Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration Criminal Justice or asimilar field.
2. Two years of experience working in a fast-paced professional work environment and demonstratesstrong organizational and customer service skills.
3. Experience working with confidential records and documents.
