Chief Purpose of this position:
The School of Nursing is seeking a dedicated dynamic individual to support post-award grant and financial administration reporting to the Schools Finance Director and working closely with our Office of Research Scholarship and Innovation (ORSI). This position will maintain a portfolio of post-award funding to support as well as be involved with the broader financial activities within the School. This would include duties such as producing and analyzing monthly reports purchasing and encumbrance management personnel funding management participant compensation MCV Foundation fund management submitting journal vouchers and more.
Position Responsibilities:
Post-Award Grant Administration:
- Manages an assigned portfolio of post-award funding related to assigned Principal Investigators (PIs) as part of the ORSI team
-Serves as first point of contact for post-award administrative support including establishing budgets monitoring and verifying personnel and non-personnel spending processing and monitoring purchasing and encumbrances closing out projects etc.
-Produces monthly reconciliation reports for each portfolio and regularly meets with PIs to review their financial information and plan for upcoming needs
-Supports the participant compensation process as applicable to projects
-Submits MCV Foundation reimbursement requests timely
-Submits necessary administrative actions requests and other project-required reports to the applicable systems such as RAMSpot and others
-Anticipates and assists in the resolution of administrative and compliance issues including potential under- or over-spending on projects
Finance Administration:
-Supports the overall financialadministration activities of the School including budgeting scholarshipmanagement and faculty practice by producing and analyzing monthly reportspurchasing and encumbrance management personnel funding managementparticipant compensation MCV Foundation fund management submitting journalvouchers and more for all funding sources applicable to the School
-Provides administrative support to variousassigned financial activities executes fiscal transactions accurately andmaintains a high level of knowledge in the areas of procurement travelreimbursements Banner finance and other fiscal areas
-Produces monthly reconciliation reports asassigned and communicates relevant information to others
-Prepares and delivers both regular and adhoc reports as requested
-Demonstrates a commitment to riskassessment (considering cost benefit and impact) and risk managementincluding supporting the ARMICS process annually
-Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to effectively manage aportfolio of post-award projects in addition to assigned fiscal activitieswithin the school.
- Ability to utilize Banner RealSourceRAMSpot and other VCU administrative systems as well as Microsoft systemssuch as Excel and Google Suite.
- Ability to follow and apply applicablefederal state and university policies as well as sound fiscal practices.
- Ability to review data and communicatesometimes complicated information to others in an understandable way.
- Work exhibits a high level oforganization attention to detail and capability to be interpreted by otherswho may not have the same fiscal knowledge.
- Willingness and initiative to addressissues through problem-solving and taking ownership of the outcome incoordination with supervisor and applicable team.
- Ability to attend work in-person atleast three days per week.
- Ability to work collaboratively andcooperatively in a large complex organization with the capability to work bothindependently and as a contributing member of a team where multiple projectsand competing deadlines may exist.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting/financebusiness or related field.
- Experience with fiscal management andpost-award grant administration functions ideally at VCU.
- Experience using VCU systems such asBanner RealSource RAMSpot and others.
- Successful work history demonstratingeffective fiscal and post-award management.
- Certified Research Administrator (CRA)certification.
