Job Description

Purchase Income & Finance Technician - AAT Apprenticeship - Exeter City Council

About the Employer

Exeter City Council is a local authority providing a wide range of public services to the residents of Exeter. These services include housing planning council tax and various community support initiatives


About the role

Key details:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm 37 hours per week
  • Wage: 21201 to 25913 per year (Dependant on level of qualification)
  • Location: Civic Centre Paris St Exeter EX1 1JN
  • Apprenticeship Standard:Level 2 Accounts Assistant (Level 3 available if qualified)
  • Duration:17 months
  • Interview dates: Interviews will take place the w/c 1st September


Overview of the role:

Under the training requirements of the Apprenticeship scheme provide finance support to the accountancy team and Council Services.


Key responsibilities:

  • To gain work experience supporting Finance in a wide range of duties in order to support the Council including the income collection and supplier payment functions
  • To input data and retrieve information from various computer systems as required.
  • To assist with day-to-day queries from budget holders and other internal officers.
  • To provide Financial System administration support e.g. re-setting passwords
  • Personally deal with incoming and outgoing emails and telephone calls where possible referring others to appropriate officers for action
  • Preparing financial journals for input
  • To undertake reconciliation work as required
  • To assist with external audit liaison and data gathering as required.
  • Such other duties as may be required from time to time

QualificationsRequired:

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 5) essential
  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) essential
  • Level 2 AAT qualification preferred for Level 3 apprenticeship
