The role will reside within Firm Risk Managements COO function. The COO team has responsibility for ensuring the operational effectiveness of the EMEA FRM Division as well as contributing to the EMEA FRM People Strategy.

Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit market liquidity operational model and other risks.

What will you be doing
Coordinate departmental inter-affiliate outsourcing requests (internal/regulatory) and provide oversight across the departments inter-affiliate outsourcing arrangements including regular inventory confirmations annual reviews and changes to outsourcing arrangements
Coordinate perform and challenge the business continuity planning processes across a number of risk areas/locations and ensure consistency where appropriate
Contribute to Business Unit Information Security Officer responsibilities and access/entitlement reviews across the Department
Prepare and/or review departmental communications and senior management / regulatory-ready materials
Collaborate with HR Sourcing IT Corporate Services and other key stakeholders with regards to tracking permanent headcount and contingent workers including the onboarding of new joiners to enhance the new joiner experience
Contribute to and support initiatives related to the EMEA FRM People Strategy
Perform risk and control assessments escalate potential gaps and risks and drive enhancements to the risk and control environment in the context of various COO processes e.g. RCSA (Risk Control Self Assessment)

Support other processes within the COO remit including ad-hoc requests and PowerPoint presentations
Guide/mentor junior members of the team

What were looking for:
Bachelors degree or equivalent
Experience in financial resource management (budget and headcount processes)
Experience in financial services preferably in areas relating to COO
Experience in Risk Management at leading financial institutions (preferred)
Experience in producing departmental communications and senior management / regulatory-ready materials
The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders both written and verbally
The ability to develop partnerships across risk functions divisions and geographies
Confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others where appropriate with experience in management by influence facilitating and gaining consensus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of processes risks and controls including in the context of operational risk incidents RCSA inter-affiliate outsourcing arrangements and business continuity planning
Strong attention to detail and ability to provide information in usable formats (proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint Excel and Word)

The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative team-oriented environment
