Rowing Supervisor - Mt Baker Rowing and Sailing Center

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) serves Seattle by offering access to recreation programming for people of all ages and skill-levels. The Rowing Supervisor at Green Lake Small Craft Center performs a range of duties including managing the day-to-day activities related to the rowing program and instructing participants.
Position Title:Rowing Supervisor

Schedule:25 administrative hours/week up to 15 optional coaching hours/week
Position Overview:
Mt. Baker Rowing and Sailing Center is seeking a dedicated and experiencedRowing Supervisorto lead and support our youth and masters rowing programs. This position plays a key role in managing program operations supervising coaching staff coordinating regatta logistics overseeing equipment and safety and fostering a welcoming and inclusive community culture. The ideal candidate has a strong rowing background proven leadership skills and a passion for athlete development and community engagement.
Rowing SupervisorResponsibilities:
Operations & Staffing
- Hire onboard and supervise all ARC rowing coaches
- Provide regular staff check-ins training and performance feedback
- Manage staff scheduling for practices events and regattas
- Ensure compliance with Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) Small Craft Operations Manual
- Approve timesheets and support coaching development
Database Compliance & Budgeting
- Oversee participant registration and data tracking in iCrew and SPR systems
- Ensure compliance with USRowing requirements waivers and attendance documentation
- Reconcile regatta budgets receipts and reports in ARCs accounting system
Equipment Oversight
- Manage shellhouse organization and the maintenance of rowing equipment
- Advise on new equipment purchases safety standards and rigging configurations
Regatta Management
- Plan and lead logistics for local and travel regattas including entries transportation meals and equipment
- Manage regatta-related documentation and budgeting
- Coordinate with volunteers and parent support
Outreach DEI & Special Initiatives
- Support inclusive program design and outreach initiatives
- Help grow partnerships to expand access to rowing for underrepresented communities
Communication & Leadership
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with participants families and staff
- Use tools like iCrew Constant Contact and email to keep the community informed
- Attend Boating Advisory Council meetings and act as a liaison between staff and leadership
Program Delivery & Culture
- Help shape coaching strategy and athlete development across all levels
- Support the delivery of sessions that prioritize skill-building fitness and positive team culture
- Promote an inclusive respectful and growth-oriented environment
Rowing SupervisorRequirements:
- Minimum 3 years of competitive rowing coaching experience (head coach or equivalent)
- Strong leadership organization and communication skills
- Experience with regatta logistics and team travel coordination
- Knowledge of rowing equipment and rigging
- Valid drivers license and trailer driving experience
- Current CPR/First Aid and USRowing SafeSport certifications (or ability to obtain)
Preferred:
- Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. communications administration education)
- Experience supervising a staff team

Physical Demands:
Coaching Duties:
- Ability to enter/exit launches and carry up to 50 lbs
- Stand for extended periods and be active during full regatta days (510 hours)
Administrative Duties:
- Prolonged screen time and work in an office setting or unheated boathouse
- Occasional travel for regattas or program support
Pay rate:
- Starting rate: $32.76/hr
- Full pay range: $32.76 36.04/hr (with additional years of employment employee can make up to $36.04/hr)
