Job Description
The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a proactive and eager-to-learn Cell Bank Technician to join our team in Cambridge UK. Youll work alongside the Laboratory Services Manager and the UK Cell Banking team playing a key role in supporting scientific research by managing the storage and distribution of cell lines across R&D functions.
This full-time permanent position is based at our state-of-the-art facility at The Discovery Centre Bio-Medical Campus in addition to a competitive salary we offer an attractive benefits package including a pension scheme private medical and dental care and an extra day off for your birthday.
Working hours: Monday to Friday 07:00 15:00

- Comfortable using a range of IT systems and software tools
- Able to work flexibly within a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Skilled in managing expectations and delivering professional customer service
- Confident communicator at all levels and enjoys collaborative work
- Energetic dependable honest and self-motivated
- Experience with SOPs and working to global standards is desirable but not essential
How youll thrive and create an impact
- Handle and manage cell lines: Receive log label store track dispatch return and dispose of cell lines according to protocols.
- Coordinate internal and external distribution: Dispatch cell lines within the Discovery Centre and support shipments to external sites.
- Utilise tracking systems and communicate effectively: Maintain accurate records and liaise with internal customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain inventory and facility standards: Manage supplies like Cryoshippers and CryoPods and uphold housekeeping standards in the cryogenic facility.
- Support facility operations: Perform manual handling tasks and assist the Laboratory Services Manager with general operational duties
