Job Summary

The SBA Department Manager is responsible for leading and managing the SBA lending operations ensuring compliance with SBA regulations and driving strategic initiatives to support small business growth. This role oversees the origination processing closing and servicing of SBA loans while fostering strong relationships with internal teams clients and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
    1. Develop and execute departmental strategies aligned with organizational goals.
    2. Lead mentor and manage SBA team members to ensure high performance and professional development.
    3. Monitor and report on departmental performance metrics.
  • Loan Operations
    1. Oversee the end-to-end SBA loan process including origination underwriting closing and servicing.
    2. Ensure timely and accurate submission of loan packages to the SBA.
    3. Maintain a strong pipeline of SBA loan opportunities.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    1. Ensure adherence to SBA guidelines policies and procedures.
    2. Collaborate with compliance and audit teams to maintain regulatory standards.
    3. Stay current on SBA program changes and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Client & Partner Relations
    1. Build and maintain relationships with small business clients referral sources and community partners.
    2. Provide expert guidance and support to clients throughout the loan process.
    3. Represent the organization at SBA-related events and industry forums.

Minimum Qualifications

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

  • Bachelors degree in Business Finance or related field (Masters Degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in SBA lending or commercial banking.
  • Excellent knowledge of SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs. As well as strongknowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations and other Bank lending policies.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with an emphasis on providing superior client experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are needed with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and computer operation host computer systems and word processing and spreadsheet software programs are expected.
  • Exceptional verbal written and interpersonal communication skills are essential. The candidate must be able to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others read analyze and interpret documents and professional journals understand procedures write reports correspondence and procedures and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • The ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations is important.
