Job Description

Summary

The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology is seeking an experienced professional to oversee the operations of the Tissue Culture Core Laboratory. This facility supports research by maintaining active cultures of diverse mammalian cell lines and managing a large frozen cell library which includes cell lines contributed by BCM and departmental investigators. On-job training will be provided where necessary.

Job Duties

  • Maintains and monitors active mammalian cell cultures.
  • Manages frozen cell stocks in a secure and accessible library.
  • Stocks and supplies essential media reagents and disposable tissue culture supplies for purchase by core users.
  • Maintains inventory and monthly billing to user labs.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.
  • Experience in the use of scientific instrumentation is a plus.
