Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and lead Fleets engagement with electric utilities utility partners and regulators and power solution providers to deliver at-scale energy supply solutions from inception through commercial operations.
  • Manage the day-to-day interactions with multiple utilities to ensure energy requirements and infrastructure needed to support Fleets planned growth are met.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure sufficient and efficient energy capacity for current and future workloads.
  • Drive path forward with in-house/external counsel finance teams and Fleet leadership on impactful utility-facing contracts
  • Evaluate utilities capabilities to meet Fleets needs especially related to scope/design schedule and budget for large capital projects.
  • Track manage and report on active project progress and financials. Proactively identify and mitigate risks to cost and schedule. Provide portfolio-level analysis of project status for communication with senior leaders.
  • Optimize power agreements to balance cost reliability and sustainability goals.
  • Monitor energy markets regulatory trends and utility rate structures to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Required Experience Qualifications:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience working with utilities to execute energy supply agreements transmission-level or distribution-level interconnection agreements procurement of new generation resources contracting for wholesale and retail electricity or conducting site selection due diligence. Demonstrated expertise collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on power infrastructure or capacity commitments.
  • Ability to distill and explain generation and transmission engineering details and complex commercial arrangements to executives potential investors and/or Board members.
  • Utility account management regulatory or economic development experience.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of data center power infrastructure requirements data center planning processes and data center capacity delivery channels.
  • Economic analysis engineering or operational familiarity with battery storage fuel cell microgrid grid-scale wind/solar or similar energy technologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of electric utility development in regulated or deregulated markets for the following: Investor-owned utilities electric cooperatives and municipally owned utilities.
  • Experience delivering due diligence reports for future substation and/or transmission projects for utilities or their customers owners engineers and/or EPC vendors.
  • Track record of successfully collaborating with utility consultants or electrical utilities to plan design or contract for energy infrastructure or energy supply.

Education Professional Certification and Licensure

  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Electrical Mechanical Civil Power Engineering Energy Management Economics or related field.
  • Relevant energy experience can be substituted in lieu of engineering or economics degree.

Influence and Persuasion: Able to effectively advocate for their position build consensus and secure favorable agreements without compromising relationships.

Operational Paranoia: Anticipate risks identify vulnerabilities and proactively implement mechanisms to prevent and minimize disruptions and safeguard safety security availability and scale.

Relationship Management: Cultivate trust collaboration and long-term partnerships while building a broad network that provides valuable benchmarking industry insights and alternative sourcing options.

Location and Travel:

  • Work location is flexible to Seattle WA Denver CO or Alexandria VA.
  • Regular travel as needed to Fleet offices as well as to meet with local authorities/utility leaders in support of projects. We expect it to be less than 25%.

Expected Salary Range: $180000 $225000 plus Bonus
