Working under the supervision of Dr. Calvin Ke Principal Investigator and Director of the Epidemiologic and Applied Research Lab in Young-Onset Diabetes (EARLY Diabetes ) the Research Assistant will primarily support a qualitative study focused on improving diabetes management among Chinese patients. The Research Assistant will play a key role in transcription of Cantonese-language interviews and video editing of Cantonese-language diabetes educational instruction videos (training will be provided).

This is a temporary casual position that is limited to this project; work can be done off-site outside of business hours; we expect there will be around 20 hours of transcription and 4 hours of video editing to be completed over 6 to 10 weeks. Contract extension may be available depending on performance and available opportunities.


Qualifications :

  • Hold a . degree in an appropriate specialization preferably in a health or social science-related field.
  • Strong fluency in spoken Cantonese and written traditional Chinese
  • Strong interest in community-engaged research with Chinese populations
  • Experience with qualitative data collection and analysis is an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with NVivo is a strong asset.
