Title: Motor Therapists (Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy)Qualifications:Completion of an approved Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy program a Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or License from the Department of Allied Health in Physical/Occupational Therapy. Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies including but not limited to: administrators parents teachers students other school staff and good communication skills both verbal and aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.A sense of humor and a proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner with all staff members students and with the larger educational certified & may be trained/trainable in a non-violent crisis intervention modelMay be required to support students in lifting and positioning them with a variety of equipment that may be needed in the school setting for students with more significant physical needs ( ie: walkers standers wheelchairs Hoyer lift evacuation chair braces etc)Such an alternative to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and To: Building Principal Program Manager and Special Education Goals: The Motor Therapist provides educationally relevant unique therapeutic services to enhance the goals and objectives of eligible students helping them to access and participate in the curriculum and life of the school. The Motor Therapist is primarily responsible for creating and implementing the therapeutic a safe and supportive educational environment for all students and staff as well as providing classroom support to teachers and studentsPerformance Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):Participates in/follows all federal and state mandated procedures and timelines for the identification of students requiring special education services within the school setting including the administration of appropriate formal and informal assessment tools/measures based on the suspected area of and implements an appropriate Individualized Education Plan for all students that are determined eligible for special education services. This includes the creation of short and long term goals based on assessment data and targeted curriculum standards or all of the students areas of identified disability. Participates in all federal and state mandated procedures and timelines for case management for all identified students ie team meetings and liaison to regular education meets and provides services to eligible students in the locations and at the time designated. Travel between schools developmental frameworks will support teachers and students in the inclusive setting to develop underlying sensory motor skills. Collaborate consult and trains staff and paraeducators working with eligible students for carryover of therapeutic interventions that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the an environment that is inclusive for all learning styles to enhance student engagement and academic achievement conducive to learning student high quality written communication through written evaluative assessments progress notes and independence in school related self-care activities. Observe problem solve and suggest positioning techniques to enhance educational participation and maximize task analysis to suggest techniques to the educational team with regard to school related self-care pre-writing pre-cutting and other skills needed for school performance. Promote motor development and student participation in everyday routines and activities focusing on functional mobility safe and efficient access to educational activities and natural learning a variety of instructional techniques and instructional the school districts strategic plan and individual school improvement and documents student work on a regular basis and provides progress reports as the assistance of district specialists as needed and all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and in activities that support the school-based medicaid program. Provide evaluations and progress notes etc in a timely team in development of and follows individual student safety plans IEPs 504s health care plans etc. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable to participate in professional development opportunities to remain current in the educational staff meetings and serves on staff committees as and maintains cooperative relationships with and maintains open lines of communication with students colleagues and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of eligible other related tasks and assumes other related responsibilities as may from time to time be as assigned by the Principal and/or Program Demands: - add into and implement and model physical management plan for daily classroom routines and train staff in safe to plan and training of safe transfers when appropriate.
