This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Global Technical Center - Champion Service Operations office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
Serve as a Warranty Financial Analyst bringing timely and insightful decisions to all strategic and tactical matters as they related to warranty forecasting accounting audit/SOX compliance and financial analyses leveraging financial systems and processes that increase visibility improve efficiency shorten decision cycle times and reinforce financial integrity and accountability.
Perform Warranty COE General Ledger functions; assure accuracy timeliness and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Prepare manual journal entries balance sheet reconciliation and reserve adequacy studies
Prepare warranty accrual rates using US GAAP accepted actuarial methodologies
Maintenance of financial data in warranty system
Identify interpret and analyze potential accounting risks and issues
Research and analyze accounting transactions and contracts
Identify and execute internal controls SOX compliance and financial procedures
Partner with Finance to determine accounting implications of transactions and perform analytical analyses to utilize when making all material business decisions
Assist with internal and external financial reporting - including analyzing consolidated results drafting SEC documents and management review reports ensuring quality and administering strict timeline
Evaluate current accounting practices and policies and drive continuous improvement

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelors degree in accounting business economics or any related field
2 years experience in accounting or finance
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
CPA or equivalent preferred
Knowledge and experience working enterprise accounting system (SAP and/or Oracle Hyperion)
Warranty or product costing analytics experience
