Community Outreach/Engagement Coordinator
POSITION TITLE:
Community Outreach/Engagement Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you passionate about your faith and eager to help others grow in theirs St. Irenaeus Catholic Parish in Rochester Hills is seeking a passionate and faith-filled leader to develop and coordinate a dynamic Community Outreach/Engagement Ministry. This role involves planning meaningful events and opportunities that enrich the lives of current parishioners as well as foster spiritual renewal within our greater community. The Community Outreach Coordinator will help newcomers experience radical hospitality and accompaniment; provide opportunities for fallen away or unchurched neighbors to encounter Jesus amidst a welcoming community; and offer programs that nurture spiritual growth and gift discernment to help individuals more fully engage in service of the Gospel. This is a full-time position with benefits.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and implement parish events to engage current parishioners as well as those beyond the parish. Some events may be annual quarterly or single opportunities based on the target audience (men families young adults etc.). Event highlights may include speakers praise and worship concerts retreats missions local pilgrimages family events etc.).
  • Work with staff to further cultivate our culture of Radical Hospitality and share in fostering an atmosphere where all feel they are welcome and valued members of our parish community.
  • Schedule and oversee weekend Mass hospitality volunteers (Greeters and Welcome Desk).
  • Follow up with new parishioners and families after sacraments of initiation and funerals.
  • Oversee the Hospitality Outreach Social Team (HOST) Committee.
  • Work alongside staff to help build and oversee teams to lead programs: to deepen encounters with Jesus (e.g. Christ Life); to form disciples (adult faith formation studies); to discern charisms (e.g. Called and Gifted); and to equip parishioners to be witnesses of faith in their ministry (volunteer formation retreats evangelization training etc.).
  • Implement effective marketing and communications strategies (digital and print) to invite and engage parishioners and community memberspromoting within the parish on social medial platforms and across our Family of Parishes.
  • Oversee the social media platforms and website of the parish by working alongside our website designer ensuring our homepage does not just provide a calendar of events for parishioners but evangelizes and attracts non-churchgoing members of our community.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule and routinely attend weekend and evening parish activities.
  • Participate in appropriate Archdiocesan meetings and activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Active Catholic in good standing who is able to participate in the sacramental life of the Church
  • Passionate about the ministry of sharing the Gospel and making disciples
  • Able to articulate and share your faith by inspiring others with words and witness
  • Person of prayer who has an abiding friendship with the Lord
  • Good understanding of Catholic teaching on evangelization through Unleash the Gospel and the Detroit Model of Evangelization.
  • Confident leader with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with members of the parish staff
  • Proficient in MS Office and Canva (or similar publishing software)
  • Able to multitask and prioritize various projects
  • Able to design flyers and promotional materials for events
  • Must complete the Archdiocesan Protecting Gods Children training and pass a criminal background check
