The Department Assistant provides general administrative support to assigned Civil and Environmental Engineering department. This person establishes maintains and ensures compliance of department records to ensure departmental goals tracks department funds and purchasing and handles a variety of clerical student support and facility coordination duties.
This is a full-time 12-month position with a compensation rate of $20.50 per hour. The University of Wisconsin System offers anationally top ranked retirement planand acomprehensive benefits package.
Serves as primary point of contact for the department.
Managers the Phone Email (2 accounts) Teams.
Interacts with students faculty/staff other departments parents prospective students alumni outside stakeholders.
Develops implements and maintains methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to department operations according to established policies and procedures.
Coordinates projects and program components including scheduling and logistics unit workflow and identifies areas for process improvements.
Coordinates all aspects of Model Bridge Competition as a part of STEM Expo.
Manages the procurement of supplies .
Coordinates logistics for Senior Design Class.
Identifies troubleshoots and resolves problems regarding technical systems and programs related to department operations.
Monitors the department unit or program budget and expenses and may assist in the development of program budget projections.
Provides operational guidance and training on day-to-day activities of student workers and program staff.
Supports multiple student organizations with purchasing and travel logistics.
Required Qualifications:
H.S Diploma
Experience working with many departments and stakeholders
Proficiency in operating a personal computer including working knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and email platforms.
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy; well-organized and able to maintain order in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage consecutive demands in a high-traffic office setting.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
