Growing Charter School Systems is seekingFOOD HANDLERfor our Elementary school program. Strong preference for bilingual (Spanish/English).
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve daily meals in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen and food prep areas
- Receive and store food items properly monitoring for freshness and temperature control
- Assist in inventory tracking restocking and meal planning logistics
- Inspect food and supplies to ensure safety and quality
- Record leftovers student balances and meal counts for compliance reporting
- Use standard kitchen equipment (oven stove microwave freezer etc.)
- Maintain professional appearance and hygiene including uniform apron and hairnet
- Attend staff trainings meetings and support school-wide events as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Service Director
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in food prep kitchen support or food service preferred
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and safe food handling practices
- Comfortable working around children and in a school setting
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
- Basic math skills and ability to use a computer
- Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong work ethic and a team-oriented attitude
