Job Summary

Summary
Responsible for filling a temporary position designed to provide aspiring physical therapists with hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of licensed physical therapists. Allows an opportunity to apply academic knowledge and gain practical skills in a real healthcare setting by participating in patient care treatment planning and therapeutic interventions all while contributing to the overall rehabilitation team.

Essential Functions
-Assist licensed physical therapists in conducting initial evaluations and assessments of patients physical conditions functional abilities and rehabilitation needs.
-Observe and participate in the collection of patient medical histories and relevant information.
-Collaborate with the rehabilitation team to develop individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations and goals.
-Under the direct supervision of licensed physical therapists provide hands-on therapeutic interventions to patients including exercises therapeutic activities and modalities.
-Assist in providing education to patients and their families regarding exercises home exercise programs and injury prevention strategies.
-Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient treatments and progress in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
-Document treatment plans progress notes and any relevant observations as required.
-Adhere to hospital policies safety guidelines and infection control protocols during all patient interactions and treatments.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials
Grace Period for License Eligibility Massachusetts - MGB Internal preferred

Experience
Enrolled in an accredited Physical Therapy program or a recent graduate waiting to take the licensing examination 0-1 year required

- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in physical therapy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients colleagues and healthcare professionals.
- Motivated enthusiastic and willing to learn and contribute to patient care.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the rehabilitation team.
- Physical ability to assist and support patients during therapeutic activities.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
