1The Analyzer Technician performs a wide variety of technical tasks for the Texas Team across a wide area of responsibility. The primary focus of this position will be the safe operation calibration and preventative maintenance of various types of on-line process analyzers and their respective shelters which provide process analysis of several different chemical products and feedstocksAnalyzer Technicians are expected to be proficient in planning and coordinating work activities with other team members and support groups and to act on their own initiative to identify and correct analyzer analyzer auxiliary equipment and analyzer shelter related issues. Analyzer Technicians are also expected to address any equipment security concerns identify and correct workplace hazards and address any possible environmental concerns. They may be required to act as a field team liaison/Subject Matter Expert when working with third parties and when necessary for project planning development and implementation work with a wide variety of individuals and personalities on a daily basis. Analyzer Technicians are process oriented with a focus on results and will apply technical and business principles while using all available tools and methods to make independent decisions while performing their daily work. They will be required to maintain a minimum of Hazwoper Level II and Level V certification and possess a demonstratable knowledge of emergency response procedures. The successful candidate will be expected to perform week long on-call duty as the primary on-call contact at a minimum of once a month and possibly more often when coverage needs arise and will be expected to answer calls after regular work hours on weekends and during holidays. Under our current normal workload this position will require 20 to 30% overtime to be worked.
This position requires an individual with extensive analyzer calibration and maintenance experience in an oil and gas plant/pipeline type environment.
Key Job Responsibilities (essential position functions):
Operation calibration and maintenance of the on-line gas chromatographs and their associated support systems such as sample probes sample heating systems pressure & temperature transmitters gas leak detectors and overpressure protection devices. Support of future analyzer related project work and project management of smaller projects is expected as well as installation of new equipment and upgrades to existing facilities. Interface with third party customers and provide required product quality data when necessary.
Must be able to maintain and troubleshoot a variety of on-line process analyzer equipment including Siemens Maxum II Advance gas chromatographs Teledyne O2 analyzers and Ametek Moisture analyzers along with the associated process sample probes sample conditioning systems and emissions controls/gas leak detection equipment. The successful candidate will be able to perform all levels of troubleshooting and repair of the various analyzers including ability to read GC schematics in order to set column flows along with making technical adjustments based on analyzer related alarms and interpretation of analyzer chromatograms. The individual will also be responsible troubleshooting and repairing various instrument electrical and communication problems related to the analyzers their associated data gathering devices and related support equipment. The successful candidate will work with local/remote operations technical and maintenance personnel as well as the CPP engineering and SCADA groups. The successful candidate will also be required to operate portable analysis equipment (sometimes on short notice) in a variety of remote environments during pipeline decommission/recommission activities. The ability to fill many different roles remain flexible in order to accomplish any task within the individuals competencies as assigned by local management and work safely/efficiently is essential for this position.
