Senior Corporate Underwriter Location: Melville NY
A well-established leader in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry is seeking a Senior Corporate Underwriter to join its collaborative and experienced Corporate Underwriting team. This role plays a key part in shaping the underwriting strategy defining guidelines overseeing workflow processes and providing training for commercial lines products.
About the Role: The Senior Corporate Underwriter serves as a subject matter expert in commercial lines underwriting ensuring best practices in risk assessment compliance and portfolio management. This role is responsible for driving underwriting discipline including exposure and loss analysis as well as supporting regional teams in achieving profitability and growth targets. The position will also oversee underwriting referrals compliance management and reinsurance submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement underwriting enthusiasm guidelines training programs and loss control requirements for both new and renewal business.
Support regional offices in meeting profit and production goals through underwriting audits training and data analysis.
Provide technical guidance to field underwriters and internal departments to ensure regulatory compliance.
Conduct audits and system tests to confirm adherence to filings and state insurance regulations.
Monitor total insured values (TIV) and catastrophe (CAT) exposure based on company risk strategies.
Lead or contribute to underwriting and loss control projects using project management methodologies.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience (Masters degree preferred).
10 years of underwriting experience with management experience being a plus.
CPCU designation or other relevant insurance coursework is highly desirable.
Strong analytical communication and organizational skills.
Knowledge of industry trends and regulatory developments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to navigate internal company systems.
