Austin Commercial is currently seeking a MEP Estimator II to joining our Houston TX team. Responsibilities:
- Completes quantity and cost take-offs including mechanical electrical and plumbing scopes when applicable
- Prepares detailed deliverables and presents estimating information with clarity and technical understanding
- Assembles accurate clarifications and assumptions to support scope coverage and pricing integrity
- Identifies conflicts or missing data in design documents and coordinates with design professionals for resolution
- Develops bid lists and invites qualified subcontractors and suppliers including MEP trades to submit proposals
- Attends design meetings with owners and architects contributing estimating insights and MEP scope awareness
- Understands the full project scope and accounts for design refinements especially those impacting MEP systems
- Collaborates with subcontractors designers and owners to identify cost savings and value engineering options including MEP alternatives
- Reviews RFPs and contracts to identify scope inclusions contract terms and risk with attention to MEP-related clauses
- Obtains and evaluates proposals from subcontractors and vendors ensuring MEP scopes are complete and competitive
- Reviews and integrates the work of other estimators ensuring consistency and accuracy across all disciplines
- Conducts detailed reviews of specifications identifying onerous or non-standard requirements particularly in MEP sections
- Builds and maintains relationships with key vendors including MEP subcontractors suppliers and consultants
- Creates detailed general condition estimates accounting for indirect costs such as temporary utilities and MEP coordination
Requirements:
Generally requires 5 years of estimating experience
BS/BA in engineering construction science architecture or relevant discipline strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
Familiarity with construction materials means and methods
Strong math and technology ability with an analytical mindset
Proficient in relevant estimating and quantity take-off software
Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities
Thoroughness and reliability
Excellent organizational skills
