Description of Work

This Position Is Funded In Part Through Federal Funds


The primary purpose of the NC FAST Tier II Help Desk Representative position is to address escalated technical issues concerning NC FAST applications and related systems. This role supports users by researching and resolving web- and server-based system inquiries managing incident tickets maintaining system security controls and documenting resolution processes. The position also plays a role in assisting users with connectivity performance and software functionality concerns.

This position contributes to the NC FAST teams broader efforts by supporting help desk operations collaborating with development staff and offering technical input into system testing and implementation. This includes gathering data on recurring issues and assisting with analysis and system enhancements. The representative also supports field staff through issue resolution and direct communication with internal and external partners.

Key Duties Include:
  • Responding to user application questions and issues via phone and email.

  • Troubleshooting and resolving escalated Tier I incidents for NC FAST applications.

  • Creating updating and tracking incidents in the help desk system.

  • Researching and analyzing recurring application problems and documenting resolutions.

  • Supporting database and transaction activity monitoring.

  • Assisting in the testing and implementation of new or updated NC FAST systems.

  • Maintaining security control records and application access logs.

  • Coordinating with other IT support teams for resolution and follow-up.

  • Generating help desk reports to monitor issues and performance metrics.

  • Advising on potential system enhancements based on incident data.

  • Ability to work extended and/or adjusted hours 1st through 5th of each month or as needed

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Qualified applicants must possess and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

Associates degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position s role
OR
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in the field of technology related to the positions role
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience
