Department Overview

Work as part of team that includes Cancer and Blood Disorder physicians nurse practitioners physician assistants nursing social work physical therapy nutrition child life clinic assistants and researchers.
The department at Childrens of Minnesota provides care for children of all ages with all types of malignancies including brain tumors solid tumors and leukemia; and blood disorders such as sickle cell disease bleeding disorders and anemia. As the largest provider of services for children with cancer and bleeding disorders in the region theCancer and Blood Disorders program focuses on providing well-coordinated knowledge-driven clinical care. We participate in national and international research and are leaders in research on supportive care and quality of life for children with cancer and bleeding disorders.
Childrens Minnesota is the largest pediatric cancer and blood disorders program in the upper Midwest. We care for more than 58 percent of children diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders in Minnesota and 74 percent of those diagnosed in the Twin Cities metro. Each year more than 1000 children are admitted as inpatients to the Jim and Colleen Ryan Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Childrens Minnesota Minneapolis hospital.
The Inpatient APP in Pediatric Oncology functions as a vital member of the interdisciplinary care team providing high quality evidence-based care to pediatric patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders. The APP is responsible for the comprehensive management of oncology patients admitted to the hospital including initial assessment ongoing evaluation coordination of care and discharge planning. The role includes both autonomous patient care and collaborative practice with attending physicians and the broader multidisciplinary healthcare team.
This is a full-time position with 10 hour day shifts 1.0 FTE that includes some weekend and holiday coverage as needed. APP will be a member of a multidisciplinary team including MDs RNs APPs social workers dietitians psychologists physical therapists child life and research.
