Are you an individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of people needing faith-based support who are currently incarcerated and working towards rehabilitation and/or re-entry to the community If so this opportunity may be the ideal fit for you.
The individual chosen for this opportunity must communicate effectively with a wide range of interdisciplinary staff colleagues community clergy mental health services providers volunteers offenders and their families conduct and coordinate religious education instruction and activities and supervise offenders attending programs.The individual in this position must provide advice and counsel to the facility head and other administrators on religious and theological matters as well as issues of staff and offender morale when appropriate. The chaplain shall be involved in research investigations and data collection on a wide range of issues pastoral programmatic and interfaith. The individual must have basic knowledge to apply constitutional principles the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA) and key court decisions pertaining to religious practices for equal treatment on an interfaith basis. The selected candidate must be able to comprehend and abide by policy standard operating procedures memoranda legal documents and other directives governing departmental and facility activity.

Master of Divinity degree from a school of theology or seminary accredited by The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and one year of residency in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent professional chaplaincy experience and Ordination or membership in a recognized religious governed body;
OR
Masters degree in related field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of residency in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent professional chaplaincy/clergy experience and Ordination or membership in a recognized religious governed body
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience

Chaplaincy Servicesis a section within the Department of Adult Correction. We seek to provide compassionate individualized spiritual care to incarcerated individuals their families and correctional staff. We ensure that each persons spiritual beliefs and religious practices are respected and supported in accordance with the First Amendment and the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA). Chaplaincy Services provides subject matter expertise to wardens and correctional staff to not only support the mission of NCDAC but also work collaboratively with other disciplines to enhance the orderly operation and rehabilitative possibility of our institutions.Full-Time
