Hope For Youth is excited to offer a 12-month grant-funded part-time paid internship within a NYS OASAS Prevention program. This position is designed for individuals interested in entering the Prevention field and ultimately pursuing a Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) or Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential. We are also honored to announce that the Hauppauge Industrial Association of Long Island (HIA-LI) an advocate for its member organizations since 1978 has recognized HFY as their Not-For Profit Business Award honoree for Excellence in 2025!
Duration: 12 months
Schedule: Part Time position at 15-20 hours weekly. Days can be flexible and include weekends per program needs. Hours flexible averaging 9AM-5PM/8AM-4PM typically
Training: Completion of 600 hours of prevention-specific education and training
Understand how to assess the needs of individuals families and communities
Learn to implement Evidence-Based Programs (EBP)
Develop and carry out Environmental Change Strategy efforts
Participate in community engagement-attend meetings collaborate with coalitions and task forces
Build relationships with schools law enforcement service providers and local businesses
Assist with designing and implementing new workshops and initiatives
Receive thorough training and supervision throughout the internship
Strong communication skills-both written and verbal
Basic computer proficiency
Professionalism integrity and enthusiasm to learn
Ability to collaborate within the agency and with the community
Willingness to work flexible hours (some evenings/weekends if needed)
Valid NYS Drivers License and reliable transportation
Physically able to perform duties (e.g. walking standing light lifting)
