Job Description
Position: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Centinela California
Pay Rate: $61.00 to $63.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time 6 to 9-month contract (eligible for extension)
Requirements
- At least 12 months of continuous experience within the last 3 years providing direct patient care in a public or private healthcare setting
- Current clinical competencies
- Valid government-issued photo ID (Drivers License or Passport)
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- National or California-issued Recreational Therapist certification

Key Responsibilities
- Communicate patient condition changes to the Director of Recreational Therapy and interdisciplinary treatment team
- Provide feedback on therapy outcomes interventions and patient progress
- Conduct assessments focused on psychosocial leisure and recreational skills
- Document all interventions in alignment with the patients care plan
- Instruct patients in stress management coping skills and balanced lifestyle strategies
- Apply advanced therapeutic approaches for psychiatric trauma-affected and substance-dependent individuals
- Facilitate therapeutic groups with a solid understanding of group dynamics and processing techniques
