The Role
Under the direction of the Superintendent Park and Facility Operations this position is responsible for the development implementation and monitoring of a successful facility maintenance program for all city buildings. This includes general building and mechanical maintenance system services including cleaning electrical plumbing HVAC roofing and security.The Supervisor ensures the efficient maintenance operation and safety of all City facility staff through service excellence. This includes the implementation of maintenance systems and schedules and the monitoring of service level standards to ensure accountability and transparency for the community across this operating team.
Qualifications- 2 year Post secondary education in a field relevant to the position or completion of an apprenticeship program in a skilled trade or an acceptable combination of education training and experience.
- Building Environmental Services Certification (BES I/II)
- Minimum 2 years experience in Facility Maintenance
- Minimum 2 years experience in a Supervisory role
- Valid Class G License with an abstract acceptable to City guidelines.
- CPR First Aid training.
The Candidate The successful candidate should possess the following experience knowledge and competencies:- Thorough working knowledge of all aspects of Facility Maintenance including standard municipal services service levels annual maintenance schedules educational programs and modernized service delivery opportunities in the context of climate change and evolving community expectations.
- Experience with Building Automation HVAC operations life safety and facility security.
- Strong Mechanical aptitude and understanding of building systems and related equipment.
- Experienced in researching writing and implementing standard operating procedures and other requirements of a modernized administrative decision making framework and facilitating staff training and scheduling.
- Ability to liaise effectively with management colleagues staff the public user groups and outside agencies to achieve collective goals while managing expectations within approved service levels.
- Demonstrated supervisory leadership and team-building skills in a unionized environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency with related computer software applications.
- Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Extensive knowledge of the Ministry of Labour Regulations.
