The Opportunity
Fixed Term Contract until August 2026 with potential for extension
Location: Melbourne / Hybrid
Were looking for a Senior Java Developer with expertise in Microservices Architecture to join our engineering team and deliver scalable secure and high-performance solutions for our enterprise clients including those in the Telco sector.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment enjoys solving complex backend challenges and is passionate about building modern distributed systems that delivers real business value.
What Youll Do
Software Development & Architecture
- Design and develop microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services
- Implement scalable and resilient backend systems using best practices
- Collaborate on system architecture and contribute to technical strategy
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with architects DevOps engineers and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implementation plans
- Participate in agile ceremonies code reviews and mentoring activities
- Ensure code quality performance and security standards are met
Innovation & Best Practices
- Evaluate and integrate modern tools and frameworks to enhance development workflows
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments (e.g. Docker Kubernetes)
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in distributed systems
What Youll Bring
- Proven experience as a Java Developer in enterprise or consulting environments
- Strong expertise in Microservices Architecture and distributed systems
- Proficiency in Java Spring Boot and API design
- Experience with message brokers (e.g. Kafka RabbitMQ) and container platforms
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP) and DevOps practices
- Understanding of security protocols (OAuth2 JWT) and API governance
- Experience with agile methodologies and collaborative development
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
