FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clerical support for an assigned corridor within the Transportation Department and to serve as a point of contact for drivers and their administrative/ personnel needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs general clerical duties: answering primary departmental phone line maintaining functionality of office equipment distribution of Interoffice and USPS mail typing correspondences editing documents and conducting research as needed.
- Notify drivers of route changes or additions for morning and/or afternoon school bus coverage ensuring that all students are transported to/from school in a timely and efficient manner.
- Review time entry of assigned drivers to ensure time is entered complete and accurate for each driver entry.
- Partner and assist Transportation Specialist with logging call-ins from drivers regarding personal illnesses or personal days off.
- Assists Corridor Supervisor and Transportation Specialist with communicating to school administrative offices regarding route or bus changes. Monitoring GPS Map radio and phones for updates with student drop-off or mechanical issues throughout the day.
- Serve as an emergency back-up driver when no other options are available.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of transportation monitoring systems or GPS skill to read/understand a map and communicate directions clearly using hand-held radios.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administration bus drivers/assistants and students.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Outlook Excel and Word.
- Ability to safely operate a school bus and monitor student behavior.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum: High school graduate or equivalency and one-year administrative work experience.
- Desired: Associates Degree or 60 college credit hours in office administration or transportation/logistics and two or more years applicable work experience.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must obtain a valid NC CDL drivers license with both P and S endorsements maintain a satisfactory driving record and have access to a vehicle during work hours to travel to meetings or other work sites as assigned. DOT drug testing performed on a random basis.
Pay Grade 59 - $2838.63 Monthly Salary - Full Time Positon
