Job Description

The Sr Payroll Administrator is responsible for completing all aspects of payroll processing and serves as the primary contact for payroll-related matters. This role ensures timely accurate payroll in compliance with federal state and local regulations and company policies. It requires strong analytical skills attention to detail and a solid understanding of payroll regulations and their accounting impact. The role also supports month-end and year-end close processes and assists with financial reporting activities as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Payroll Processing:

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll process including data input calculation and distribution of pay to employees utilizing UKGs payroll solution.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions by editing/reviewing all payroll reports and making corrections as needed prior to payroll transmission.
  • Import 401k FSA/HSA/DCA files and process funding through vendor portals.
  • Review payroll discrepancies process adjustments and collaborate with HR/Finance to recommend appropriate actions.
  • Oversee year-end payroll activities including supplemental payrolls W-2s and other tax forms.
  • Collaborate with HRIS IT and vendors to implement updates and enhancements.
  • Stay abreast of federal state and local payroll tax regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant laws.
  • Support payroll 401(k) and financial audits; respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Maintain payroll policies and ensure consistent enforcement.
  • Ensure accurate recording of payroll data in the general ledger and reconcile payroll-related accounts general ledger accounts as part of the month-end close process.
  • Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts including payroll clearing and benefits accounts to ensure deductions match actual disbursements to vendors.
  • Prepare detailed payroll and labor cost reports for use in financial planning audit compliance and management analysis.
  • Support the implementation of process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in evaluating and adopting tools or systems to improve payroll operations and reporting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience with an associates degree OR Minimum of 4 years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience processing garnishments deductions and supplemental pay
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR/Payroll systems Time and Attendance systems and Reporting Tools.
  • Knowledge of federal/state/local wage/hour and payroll tax laws required.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information is essential.
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal communications skills both written and verbal.
    • Highly organized analytical adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with a diverse customer base both internal and external.
  • Ability to pass a hair follicle drug test a post-offer pre-employment physical and a background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Business Administration or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience with UKG payroll solution.
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Valid drivers license

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements loud conditions airborne particles (sawdust).
