Design Program Manager, Engineering, North America Design & Contruction

Amazon is seeking a Design Program Manager with Engineering proficiency to support the development and implementation of design standards across multiple building programs. This role will serve as the primary liaison between key internal Amazon design stakeholder teams the Design and Construction team external design teams and general contractors to aid design development and increase standardization across all Amazon building sites. The successful candidate will have extensive project management experience leading Engineering Programs on projects that include industrial warehouse/fulfillment facilities and/or manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will also have a proven record of leading multi-discipline coordination on new and in-flight design and construction projects including Value Engineering (VE) and cost/schedule mitigating measures. This candidate must perform well in a fast-paced multi-project environment and be capable of prioritizing critical work on each project.

Key job responsibilities
Management:
oOversee multiple projects simultaneously ensuring they are completed on time within budget and to the required quality standards
oDevelop and implement program-wide strategies processes and best practices
oCoordinate with other departments and stakeholders to align engineering programs with overall organizational goals
Planning and Execution:
oDevelop detailed project plans including schedules budgets and resource allocation
oCoordinate with architects engineers contractors and clients to ensure smooth project execution
oMonitor project progress and adjust as necessary to meet deadlines and objectives
Leadership:
oProvide technical guidance and expertise on engineering systems and technologies
oReview and approve engineering designs specifications and drawing as needed
oEnsure compliance with relevant codes standards and regulations
Management:
oLead and mentor a team of engineers designers and project managers
oAssign tasks set performance goals and conduct regular performance evaluations
oFoster a collaborative and innovative work environment
Control:
oEstablish and maintain quality control processes for engineering systems and programs
oConduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure work meets quality standards
oIdentify and resolve technical issues and discrepancies
Relations:
oServe as the primary point of contact for clients on engineering-related matters
oManage client expectations and communicate project status regularly
oAddress and resolve client concerns promptly and effectively
Management:
oDevelop and manage program budgets
oMonitor project costs and implement cost-saving measures where appropriate
oPrepare financial reports and forecasts for senior management
Management:
oIdentify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
oManage change of orders and contract modifications
oEnsure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
Improvement:
oStay updated on industry trends new technologies and best practices in engineering systems
oImplement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity
oContribute to the companys knowledge base and share insights with team members

Competency
Advanced technical knowledge in engineering systems building codes and industry standards combined with proven experience in managing complex engineering projects from conception to completion
Strong program and project management skills including the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring adherence to schedules budgets and quality standards
Demonstrated leadership abilities in team management mentoring and fostering collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholder groups including clients contractors and internal teams
Proficiency in relevant software applications including BIM tools (Revit MEP AutoCAD) project management software and energy modeling programs

Superior communication and negotiation skills with the ability to effectively manage client relationships resolve conflicts and drive successful project outcomes

Leads detailed design discussions while ensuring program-level goals are met
Clear and concise in verbal and written communications
Ability to communicate technical design content to non-technical team members

Bachelors degree in Engineering with Professional Engineering (PE) license
7 years of project management experience from design development through construction administration to complex commercial projects; industrial experience preferred
Strong knowledge of building codes and industry regulations
Demonstrated proficiency in BIM coordination and clash detection on developing projects
Impeccable organization written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Bluebeam Revu and Autodesk Suite (Revit Autodesk BIM 360 Navisworks)


Masters degree in Engineering or Construction Management Demonstrated skill in written & oral communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Specific experience in construction or renovation of commercial warehouse facilities or fulfillment centers.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $69700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $155800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
