Job Title: Lead MRI Technologist
Location: NICoE 4860 S Palmer Rd Bethesda MD 20814
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8Hrs Shift; 40 hours/week
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited MRI education program recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience as an MRI Technologist is required including independent performance of MRI examinations and supervisory or leadership roles. Must have documented experience operating GE and Siemens MRI scanners.
- License/Certification: Current unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory and certification from the appropriate body such as ARRT RDMS CNMT or state pharmacy board. BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead imaging technologist and primary technical expert for all MRI procedures at NICoE.
- Perform advanced MRI procedures independently including Brain Spine Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) Functional MRI (fMRI) MR Spectroscopy MR Perfusion MR Angiography with contrast
- Coordinate and perform patient screening preparation positioning and scanning in accordance with safety protocols and facility procedures.
- Operate and maintain MRI scanners and coils ensuring equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
- Conduct daily weekly and periodic quality assurance (QA) and control testing as required.
- Serve as the MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) for the department ensuring staff and patient safety per national MRI safety standards (e.g. ACR guidelines).
- Maintain accurate records of scan data patient logs quality assurance reports and scanner service documentation.
- Train and guide junior technologists and research personnel in the use of the MRI system including clinical and research imaging protocols.
- Participate in MRI research protocols including implementation of new sequences and quality improvement projects in collaboration with physicians and neuroscientists.
- Utilize Genesis (MHS Genesis) electronic health record system and PACS for data entry image archiving and documentation of imaging findings.
- Ensure MRI exams are completed within scheduled timeframes and that diagnostic-quality images are delivered for interpretation.
- Maintain proficiency in emergency procedures and be capable of initiating emergency response actions during imaging procedures
