Description

Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and BH Director the Psychiatrist provides comprehensive mental health services to patients of the Sonoma County Indian Health Project (SCIHP). This role is responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations diagnosing mental health conditions prescribing and managing medications and delivering evidence-based treatments. The Psychiatrist works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support the emotional and psychological well-being of patients with a strong emphasis on culturally sensitive and community-centered care.

Essential Function:

  1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments.
  2. Experience in evaluation consultation education diagnosis treatment and referral for mental health conditions.
  3. Work closely with the CMO BH Director BH providers SCIHP physicians and consulting psychiatrists regarding matters of mutual concern and/or delivery of medical services to SCIHP patients.
  4. Provides direct psychiatric evaluation testing as needed diagnosis and treatment of SCIHP patients.
  5. Coordinates evaluation diagnosis and treatment of SCIHP patients with BH providers other SCIHP physicians and consulting psychiatrists.
  6. Provides individual group and family therapy. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plan as needed.
  7. Issues medication prescriptions in accordance with treatment guidelines.
  8. Orders laboratory tests interprets and explains the test results to patients.
  9. Provides patient education regarding medications risks benefits and reasonable outcome expectations.
  10. Communicates with patients and engages in follow-up as necessary.
  11. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records including assessment treatment plan progress notes outcome measures and billing entries.
  12. Collaborates with guardians relatives and significant others on clients conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.
  13. Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with AAAHC federal state and local regulations.
  14. Participates in service programs mandatory SCIHP staff meetings case conferences educational offerings and SCIHP training programs.
  15. Maintains SCIHP property supplies and equipment in a manner that demonstrates ownership and accountability.
  16. Follows infection control protocols in accordance with OSHA regulations and SCIHP policies.
  17. Maintains a formalized collaborative care relationship with all SCIHP providers who are credentialed and privileged by SCIHP.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  1. Maintain a current valid and unrestricted California Medical license.
  2. Minimum of three (3) years related experience or equivalent.
  3. Hold and maintain a current valid and unrestricted DEA Certificate.
  4. Ability to understand and adhere to established policies procedures and protocols.
  5. Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.
  6. Effectively collaborates with diverse healthcare professionals in a fast paced complex settings demonstrating tact diplomacy and sound judgement.
  7. Strong charting/documentation skills. EHR (Electronic Health Records) and basic computer skills.
  8. Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  9. Knowledge of modern methods theories techniques and procedures used in medicine.
  10. Knowledge of services provided by other SCIHP departments and the ability to work cooperatively with those departments.
  11. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients and other employees.
  12. Ability to maintain a clear understandable speaking voice capable of communication with people from various backgrounds.
  13. Able to maintain patient confidentiality.
  14. Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  15. Creative flexible and innovative team player.
  16. Reliability and punctuality required.
  17. Required to have versatility flexibility and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
  18. Must have proof of completed COVID Vaccinations and Booster vaccine.
