Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to develop manage and control new model development activities supporting the startup strategy through mass production of new products and processes. As part of our strategic initiatives in support of EV and Hybrid technology platforms this role is essential in ensuring that all aspects of new model introduction align with program timing quality cost and delivery objectives. This role involves direct interaction with design engineering manufacturing quality supply chain and safety teams to guarantee the production of high-performing quality parts.
Minimum Qualifications (Education Experience and Skills)
Bachelors degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience and education
5 years of related work experience with high-volume precision assembly processes
- Ability to make quick accurate data driven decisions utilizing excellent critical thinking skills
- Excellent oral and written communication and people skills
- Computer literacy with both personal computers and manufacturing systems
- Well organized and able to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
- Candidate must already have work authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering mechanical engineering technology other technical fields or equivalent experience and education
Minimum of 10 years of related work experience
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as the lead for major capital equipment procurement or process development
Position Duties and Responsibilities / % Time Spent
- Develop feasibility studies to ensure manufacturing processes have merit; Ensure manufacturing equipment is of high economic value & thoroughly evaluate all processes for reduction of unnecessary process time energy consumption and labor requirements; Work with EHS to ensure that all process and equipment designs are safe; Ensure process and equipment design meets Cpk requirements; Create solid project plans that are low in the risk of achieving profit goals and gains required approvals: 60%
- Support implementation of new model projects: 20%
- Analyze / review / select new suppliers and processes: 10%
- Support manufacturing plant VA / VE (Value Added / Value Engineering): 5%
- Other duties as assigned to support corporate objectives: 5%
Skills and Abilities
- Promote and embody Astemos code of conduct leading with integrity and ethics
- Manage multiple tasks and deadlines work independently and make effective decisions
- Maintain detailed documentation of inspection results rework procedures and quality control measures
- Design implement maintain or improve manufacturing testing instruments equipment facilities components products or systems for commercial industrial or domestic purposes
- Confirm equipment meets the required specifications and is safe to use
- Make sound business decisions while exercising good judgment
- Write maintain and analyze process programs within multiple digital environments
- Setup testing trials/experiments for customer/internal needs including countermeasure activity
- Confirm that all product requirements are satisfied by online testing including daily validations
- Monitor progress comply with quality/schedule requirements and maintain logs and records
- Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment or major repairs
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
- Ensure all local state and federal laws and regulations are followed
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with a high level of accuracy
- Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Analyze innovative technologies and assess potential applications
- Coordinate and recommend cost savings and efficiency ideas
- Must be flexible to adapt to changing requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No direct reports
- Guide and support other engineers interns EITs TSs MAs and TAs
Software
- Intermediate experience with ACAD and CATIA preferred
- Intermediate experience required in Windows MSWord PowerPoint and Excel CAD
Essential to Job Functions Physical and/or Mental Restrictions
- Ability to work for extended periods of time while sitting standing walking and bending
- This position is for day shift; however the ability to work a flexible schedule is expected
- Ability to lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds
- Visual ability to work accurately with detailed information and a computer screen
