Job Description
A detail-oriented Soil Testing Technician is needed to perform field and laboratory testing services for a leading Geotechnical Engineering firm. This hands-on role involves collecting soil samples performing standardized tests and accurately recording and reporting data to support geotechnical investigations. The ideal candidate is dependable mechanically inclined and able to work in outdoor environments while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform field sampling and testing of soils using methods such as Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) Atterberg Limits and moisture-density testing.
Conduct laboratory testing of soil samples for classification and engineering properties following ASTM and AASHTO standards.
Record and report accurate test data and observations to project managers and engineers.
Assist with geotechnical drilling operations and field logging of soil borings.
Maintain and calibrate testing equipment ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Prepare field and lab reports documentation and photographs for submission to clients and project teams.
Follow company and client-specific safety procedures at all times while working in various field conditions.
Job Requirements
- 1 year(s) of soil testing experience required
- Nuclear Density Gauge certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or technical certification in engineering civil engineering materials testing geology or a related field is preferred
- Basic understanding of construction materials testing methods and equipment used in civil engineering projects. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and guidelines is desirable
