We are looking for a friendly motivated student to join the Office of Career Development team! As a Student Assistant youll help students with their career goals and gain valuable experience in a professional office setting. Youll improve your communication organization and leadership skills while assisting others. Plus this position is flexible and allows you to bring your ideas and skills to help the office grow.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Greet students and visitors answer questions and guide them to the right resources
Answer the phone and oversee the email account
Assist students in booking career consultations on Handshake
Offer helpful feedback to students on their resumes and cover letters to improve their confidence
Help with career events and programs like workshops and Networking Mixers
Manage Handshake approve job requests post events and help troubleshoot any basic issues
Collaborate with Career Development staff to raise awareness of our services among Chatham students through intentional outreach efforts
LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Student will develop skills for working both autonomously and as part of a team; student will learn to problem solve exercise good judgement and discretion
2. Student will learn about resume interview and professional conduct tips in order to be able to share with students seeking assistance from Career Development
3. Student will develop creative methods for advertising jobs and internships to students to develop marketing and event management skills
4. Student will be able to identify professional goals and steps of how to achieve those goals in an attainable and measurable way
