Job Description

Truss Designer (Mitek)

Norspan Engineered Wood Products is a Canadian owned and operated manufacturer that designs builds and sells roof trusses and floor systems across Central Canada. Using state-of-the-art technology including automated saws and lumber collectors Norspan builds engineer approved structural systems for residential commercial and agricultural buildings. With a wide-ranging team made up of Sawyers Designers salespeople and more Norspan is always looking for talented individuals to help grow our team.

The Truss Designer duties include but are not limited to:

Designing trusses & layouts according to company standards & specifications

Implementing design changes and communicating with other related departments to ensure accuracy of design(s)

Providing the pre- and post-technical support to customers when required

Promoting a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures including all Health & Safety protocols

Providing support to other projects

Other duties as assigned.

The Successful Candidate will have:

Post-secondary education or technical training in Architecture Engineering or Drafting.

Proficiency with Mitek truss design software.

A valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle if working in office.

Previous drafting and design experience in the construction industry.

Demonstrated track record of continuous learning (with knowledge of the building industry considered to be a strong asset).

Customer service skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage and multi-task several projects at the same time.

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.

Exceptional communication skills (written verbal and listening).

Strong organizational skills and self-motivated.
