Position Overview:

The Regional Manager of Human Resources is a consultative position that provides guidance to support a positive work environment in support of achieving company goals. This role will enhance the level of human resources support by fostering a high level of employee trust while providing effective coaching and advice to leadership. This position plays a pivotal role in mitigating employment-related risks analyzing trends and making proactive recommendations. The Regional Manager of Human Resources will report directly to the Senior Regional Manager of Human Resources.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with field leadership assessing and resolving medium to high complex human resources matters seeking input as appropriate and influencing business leaders to take appropriate courses of action. Engage proactively with employees to understand the needs of our diverse workforce.
  • Conduct prompt thorough investigations in response to employee complaints. Identify recommend and oversee implementation of appropriate actions to accomplish a timely resolution.
  • Prepare well-documented written summaries of findings.
  • Proactively work with other support center departments.
  • Proactively identify internal and external human resources and employee relations trends.
  • Support leadership and teams through change maintaining operational excellence and addressing potential challenges proactively.
  • Remain current regarding regulatory changes impacting their assigned regions.
  • Propose and recommend proactive strategies to support company goals and improve the employee experience.
  • Provide partnership counsel and expertise to business leaders to drive business outcomes through highly engaged and high performing teams.
  • Explain company policies procedures and governmental regulations and the need for compliance to all levels of leadership.
  • Assist leadership with handling and preparation of disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Track and monitor data in HR systems in a timely manner.
  • Develop and compile statistics and reports for leaderships use.
  • Analyze HR metrics (e.g. exit interviews engagement results etc.) and develop insights to drive action planning.
  • Champion and demonstrate PLS culture and core values through corresponding behavior and actions.
  • Must be able to facilitate content during regional and/or department meetings.
  • Help foster a work environment that promotes teamwork meaningful performance feedback recognition mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
  • Perform or assist with other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • 10 plus years of progressive experience in human resources with a focus on employee relations in a multi- unit geographically diverse field-support position within a fast-paced industry such as retail or hospitality
  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have demonstrated problem solving judgment and conflict resolution skills with the ability to provide high quality independent analysis conclusions and recommendations
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal state and local employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions and company policies
  • A demonstrated team-orientation with all levels of employees
  • Ability to quickly build trusting relationships gain credibility and partner with leaders and peers
  • Ability to effectively manage change and stressful situations
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Proven planning priority setting and time management skills
  • Ability to achieve results in a fast-paced dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines
  • Strong technical/computer skills including Word Excel and Power Point
  • Enthusiasm for business and a passion for driving results
  • Demonstrated organization strong attention to detail and follow-up skills

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • This role requires regular in-person collaboration with team members at our Chicago Support Center.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. with little assistance
  • Must be able to work in restrictive spaces and maintain concentration in a busy environment with moderate to high noise levels
  • Must manage several tasks at one time and handle frequent interruptions to meet the needs and requests of customers
