Job Description

CONTRACT/SALARY: 183-days; 8 hours/day; Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Building DiagnosticiansDirectors of Special Services Building Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the diagnostic and counseling departments.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  1. A background in computers word processing knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Access)
  2. Excellent communication skills; must be able to serve the public in diplomatic friendly and efficient manner.
  3. Ability to edit routine correspondence for spelling and grammatical errors.
  4. Be highly organized and efficient in a high energy and fast paced environment.
  5. Familiarity with special education processes is preferred.
  6. High school diploma or equivalent required.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Willingness to learn special education process
  2. Maintains and ensures that all Special Education files are current and in order
  3. Type reports letters forms etc related to special education process
  4. Mailing of evaluation reports and IEP related paperwork scheduling appointments with parents teachers and agencies regarding special education testing as well as other types of conferences
  5. Management of student special education and regular education information in student information system
  6. Preparing and supplying Special Education reports for building principal and central office staff
  7. Processes information related to students transferring into and out of the district
  8. Assists with intake registration and enrollment of new students including contacting the previous school for records
  9. Answer incoming phone calls in a courteous professional manner
  10. Communicate in a clear manner with all Special Education Staff and all other staff related to the position
  11. Other duties as assigned
  12. Assists with screening and referral information disseminating necessary forms to appropriate staff.
