Toward that end Student Affairs invites applications for the Graduate Assistant for Social Change and Belonging.
The Graduate Assistant for Social Change and Belonging will report to the Director of the Center for Social Change and Belonging and is responsible for assisting with research and the development of inclusion programs and initiatives for students and staff while supporting broader social change belonging access equity and inclusion initiatives as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This Graduate Assistant will provide the following:
Assist in researching social change belonging access equity and inclusion topics and prepare reports of findings.
Assist with the development coordination and implementation of educational cultural and inclusion programs for students and staff
Support and coordinate various peer-education based programs committed to advancing social change belonging access equity and inclusion within the student experience while also creating pathways for student success and connection.
Participate actively as a team member in the Office of Social Change and Belonging as well as Student Affairs activities; maintain a collaborative relationship with colleagues; and make recommendations that benefit and strengthen the development of the inclusion education.
Serve on committees work groups and task forces as needed.
Maintain confidentiality in incidents and complaints related to social change belonging access equity and inclusion
Attend meetings and participate in workshops sponsored by access community and success units as needed.
Develop creative engagement with social media website & other sources of communication as needed.
Develop and implement special projects which includes but is not limited to initiatives to address current trends and issues benchmarking program development and items of interest to the Graduate Assistant time permitting
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrated knowledge and application of social change belonging access equity and inclusion principles and practices;
Demonstrated knowledge of the challenges facing students staff and/or faculty including from historically underrepresented communities including people with disabilities people of color queer transgender gender diverse first-generation low-income international immigrant undocumented tribal and indigenous communities;
Excellent interpersonal communication writing and organizational skills;
Proficient in social media platforms.
