Purpose: Reporting directly to the Global Legal Organizations Intellectual Property Transactions group the Associate Director position will be part of the Research & Academic Partnerships (RAP) team which manages discovery and preclinical research collaborations and other engagements with university/academic research institutions and non-profit research entities on behalf of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (JJIM) across all therapeutic areas.
You will be responsible for:
Establishing and maintaining relationships with university/academic research institutions and non-profit research entities in the exploratory research space.
Drafting and negotiating template-based agreements (soliciting input from stakeholders preparing initial contract drafts from templates applying approved modifications and proposing revisions and identifying issues for legal review).
Facilitating communications between internal and external parties (scheduling meetings drafting correspondence and providing updates on contract status).
Reviewing business plans and contract drafts to ensure compliance with internal SOPs; ensuring all required approvals are obtained and maintaining contract databases and compliant documentation.
Leading and/or supportingthe creation of templates guidance documents approved fallback and variation language and process improvement initiatives to accelerate RAP contracting build efficiencies and increase business partner satisfaction.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors degree or equivalent in legal life sciences or business is required and advanced degree such as JD LLM MBA or PhD is highly desirable.
A minimum of five years transactional experience preferably with academic and non-profit research institutes and demonstrated ability to influence successful outcomes.
Well organized customer-focused capable of managing multiple projects and excellent time management skills with respect to priorities and self-management.
Must be able to travel occasionally between J&J facilities in the US.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$120000-$207000Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
