This is a remote position.
Work Schedule: 3:00 or 4:00 PST
Primary Mission:
Own all federal state and local HR compliance processes across our current and future U.S. locations ensuring we stay audit proof and employee centric.
Regulatory Radar Track interpret and summarize new legislation (wage and hour leave pay equity posting ban the box etc.) for every state in which we operate.
Policy Engineering Draft update and socialize employee handbooks SOPs and manager toolkits that translate laws into clear day to day practices.
Risk Assessments Conduct quarterly compliance audits (I 9 exempt/non exempt overtime meal/rest paid leave accrual record keeping) and deliver action plans with deadlines and owners.
Payroll Interface (advisor not runner) Partner with Finance/Payroll to confirm system configs match legal requirements (tax set ups garnishments PTO tracking) and validate year end filings.
Training & Enablement Build micro learning modules and live sessions for managers on hot button topics (harassment prevention reasonable accommodation wage theft avoidance).
Issue Triage Serve as first point of contact for compliance related employee questions or agency inquiries; coordinate timely responses and corrective actions.
Future Proofing Proactively recommend technology vendor solutions or process automations that keep us ahead of scale related compliance complexity.

2 years HR compliance work with 1 year supporting multi state operations; proven track record drafting policies & conducting audits.
In depth grasp of FLSA FMLA ADA Pay Equity EEOC record keeping; state leave & wage hour rules in at least 5 diverse states.
Bachelor s in HR Business or related; SHRM CP or PHR certification (or ability to earn within 6 months).
HRIS auditing & report building; Excel/Google Sheets analytics; familiarity with payroll platforms (ADP Paycom Gusto etc.).
Investigative mindset concise legal to plain English translation consultant presence with managers calm under regulatory fire.

Exposure to Canadian or EU employment regs (future expansion).
SHRM SCP SPHR or state specific certifications (e.g. California HR BP).
Experience with compliance dashboards (e.g. Mineral SixFifty) or AI driven policy tools.
Sense of humor that turns policy briefings into edutainment .
