GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The Wyoming Department of Agriculture is searching for a Senior Inspection Specialist for its Technical Services Division. This position is responsible for Pesticide program inspections and complaints for the western side of the state and providing support for the Leaf Cutter Bee lab as required. The successful candidate must be able to become a subject matter expert in the laws and regulations of pesticide applications in Wyoming and will be responsible for training other staff. The successful candidate must possess organizational skills be adept at time management communication and providing effective training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.


  • Investigate pesticide complaints
  • Inspects pesticide applicators and restricted-use pesticide dealers for compliance
  • Support Leaf Cutter Bee sampling and inspections
  • Assist in the development planning and implementation of training for Plant Industry programs
  • Assist with the development of Division internal policies
  • Attend national training events as needed
  • Reviews statutes rules and regulations to maintain compliance.
  • Performs inspections in a variety of regulatory Division programs as required

Qualifications


PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


Preference may be given to the candidate with a Bachelors degree in agriculture natural resources or chemistry.
**The agency requires that the successful hire possess a valid drivers license.


KNOWLEDGE:




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelors Degree
Experience:
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II
OR
Education & ExperienceSubstitution:
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:




NOTES:


  • FLSA: Exempt
  • Must have the ability to travel and work flexible hours including occasional evening and weekend work. Travel may consist of 40-50% of the time commitment.
