Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our team and advance the development of iPSC-derived neuron cultures for psychiatry drug this role you will work with human iPSCs differentiating them into various neuronal types and performing assays to assess neuronal function and monitor disease-relevant phenotypes. You will have the opportunity to explore the mechanisms of therapeutic molecules and present your findings at internal meetings. The successful candidate is a dynamic team player with strong communication skills eager to learn and committed to improving the quality of life for patients with psychiatric disorders. Key responsibilities include iPSC culture and differentiation as well as general lab management. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cell culture and banking of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) iPSC-derived neurons and primary neuronal cultures
  • Differentiate human iPSCs into desired neuronal cell types
  • Evaluate compound efficacy using biochemical and molecular biology techniques such as immunostaining qPCR western blot and enzymatic assays
  • Perform in vitro electrophysiology experiments to assess neuronal activity
  • Work independently in the lab analyze results and present findings to the team for feedback.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal colleagues across the organization as well as external partners on occasion
  • Demonstrate strong data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Assist in developing cell-based assays including high content imaging and quantitative microscopy assays.
  • Independently generate accurate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner and keep detailed experimental records
  • Mentoring of junior Associates Co-op students and interns

Qualifications :

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of experience or Masters Degree or equivalent education with typically two years of experience.
  • Hands-on experience with neuronal culture
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in handling all tasks.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects amid shifting priorities and thrive in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Proficiency in sterile techniques and basic cellular and molecular biology lab skills.
  • Enthusiasm for conducting lab-based research to drive discovery efforts in neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • Familiarity with reading interpreting and adapting methods from primary literature
  • Collaborative proactive and curious nature.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A passion for learning new methods and techniques with a strong desire to be an independent scientist.
  • Attention to detail and record keeping using an electronic lab notebook.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with iPSC culture
  • Proficiency in the principles of neurobiology and cell biology
  • Prior experience in drug discovery particularly in psychiatry
  • Experience with high content imaging assays

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.   • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
