    THE PLACE

    The Harbor Portland Rescue Missions mens facility located in NE Portland is designed to supportthe restoration and growth of men impacted by homelessness addiction and life crises. This facility integrates addiction recovery life-skills training vocational development and spiritual growth in a safe highly-relational environment. The ministry team of staff interns and volunteers serves to model Christ-like living to support the up to 36 participants in achieving lasting transformation.

    THE POSITION

    The Mens Life Skills and Operations Specialist will have the opportunity to serve program participants experiencing life transformation by training and supervising them in vocational assignments and life skills so they are prepared for future employment and long-term success. This person will serve alongside the Life Skills Manager to bring operational excellence to The Harbor and lead program participants towards order accountability and consistency in their personal life. Join a team of fellow skilled servants to make a lasting difference in the lives of men seeking freedom from homelessness and addiction.

    THE ESSENTIALS

    • Provide excellence to The Harbor operations and facility care creating a place of safety and hospitality
    • Oversee the successful operation of janitorial landscape hospitality and facility care vocational training areas alongside the Life Skills Manager
    • Schedule train and supervise program participants as they participate in vocational work
    • Cultivate growth in program participants workplace soft skills and an understanding of individual strengths through supervising vocational training areas and classroom education
    • Oversee program operational needs of participants including badges transportation tri-met reimbursements petty cash room assignments and room turnovers
    • Ensure program participants have all their living needs met and encourage their responsible stewardship of life possessions and surroundings
    • Work directly with program participants as they prepare for future housing and employment needs connecting them to necessary resources and solutions
    • Walk alongside program participants as they identify and resolve needs related to medical dental health insurance finances or other obstacles preventing independent living
    • Engage with and mobilize volunteers whenever possible so that ministry is multiplied

    BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • A passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and a testimony of continued growth in faith
    • A calling to serve men impacted by homelessness and addiction
    • Good understanding and experience in life skills development facility operations and motivational principles
    • Agreement with Portland Rescue Missions Statement of Faith and Code of Ethics
    • A personal ethos and work ethic that reflects Portland Rescue Missions ministry culture Highly Relational Christ-Centered Joyful Servant
    • Experience working in teams and supervising people is preferred
    • General awareness and basic knowledge of chemical dependency addiction recovery and Christian discipleship
    • Proficient in documentation organization scheduling and instruction
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
