Job Summary:

The Athletics Department at Marist University invites applications for a full-time 12-month position as the Assistant Director Sports Information. This position will work under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director External in coverage of Marist University Athletics through writing social media stat keeping web site maintenance and archive work. The Assistant Director Sports Information is directly responsible for coverage of their assigned sports. This position works with coaches administrative staff and student staff to develop story ideas as well as other duties as assigned by supervisor and administrative staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Communication Journalism or related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Valid drivers license with no serious convictions

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with content for and social media platforms.
  • Assist with staffing home events for assigned sports including overseeing statistical staff social media and performing public address announcing (if necessary).
  • Collaborate with co-workers administrative staff and coaches on projects to develop story ideas.
  • Work with student staff on office projects and at live events.
  • Keep accurate records for (including rosters schedules and statistics).
  • Maintain historical database for assigned sports.
  • File statistical reports with conference & national offices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1000 hours with Marist University.
  • 403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity Roth option available. Voluntary up to IRS maximum contribution.
  • Tuition Benefits:
    • Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee spouse and dependent children under age 26.
    • University pays 100% tuition only.
    • Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.

*Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.
