Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
PCB Assembly & Soldering: Perform precision soldering of surface-mount and through-hole components on PCBs ensuring compliance with IPC standards.
Prototype Development: Assist in the assembly and modification of prototype boards supporting engineering teams to meet design specifications.
Inspection & Testing: Conduct visual inspections and functional testing of PCBs to ensure quality and identify defects using tools such as multimeters oscilloscopes or other diagnostic equipment.
Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair soldering defects including cold joints solder bridges or component misalignment ensuring functionality and reliability.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed including assembly process and components consumed.
Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all company safety protocols ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures and industry standards (e.g. IPC-A-610 J-STD-001).

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in electronics engineering technology or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in PCB soldering and assembly preferably in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Soldering small gauge wires/connectors for PCB assemblies
  • SolidWorks
  • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification
  • PCB assemblies


Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in soldering techniques for both surface-mount and through-hole components.
  • Familiarity with IPC and J-STD standards for soldering and PCB assembly.
  • Ability to interpret and work from schematics assembly drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Experience with electronic testing equipment (e.g. multimeters oscilloscopes).
  • Knowledge of ESD handling procedures and best practices.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 standards.
  • Experience with automated soldering equipment or rework stations.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for PCB design and layout.
  • Work is performed in a laboratory setting requiring the use of specialized tools and equipment.
  • May involve extended periods of sitting or standing while performing detailed soldering work.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses or ESD wrist straps is required.
