Job Description

Job Requirements:

  • Assess instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
  • Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
  • Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
  • Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
  • Assess patients post-operative condition
  • Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress meeting discharge criteria
  • Monitor patients for condition changes reporting any changes to physician
  • Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
  • Communicates and collaborates with nurses physicians technicians and other members of the healthcare team to develop a plan of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.
  • Charts observations and activities related to patient care in electronic health record.
  • Provides safe effective and compassionate nursing care for a patient population using critical thinking skills advocacy abilities and ethical approaches.
  • Demonstrates awareness of organizational values mission and philosophy through interactions with physicians patients and peers.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional education and development.
  • Complete mandatory in-service requirements.
  • Completes at least 20 hours of continuing education in addition to mandatory requirements within the last year that is specific to daily clinical practice.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (Required)
  • Current Registered Nurse License in this state (Illinois)
  • BLS and ACLS(Required)
  • General clinical competency in acute patient care
  • 4-5 years of PACU/SDS ED ICU or Medsurg/Tele (Required)
  • Ability to work variable hours
  • Adaptive to learn new techniques and skills in the OR
  • Experience in spine ortho and robotic surgeries
  • Have a good knowledge of inventory and supplies in the operating room
