Job Requirements:
- Assess instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about procedure
- Assess patients post-operative condition
- Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress meeting discharge criteria
- Monitor patients for condition changes reporting any changes to physician
- Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
- Communicates and collaborates with nurses physicians technicians and other members of the healthcare team to develop a plan of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.
- Charts observations and activities related to patient care in electronic health record.
- Provides safe effective and compassionate nursing care for a patient population using critical thinking skills advocacy abilities and ethical approaches.
- Demonstrates awareness of organizational values mission and philosophy through interactions with physicians patients and peers.
- Assumes responsibility for professional education and development.
- Complete mandatory in-service requirements.
- Completes at least 20 hours of continuing education in addition to mandatory requirements within the last year that is specific to daily clinical practice.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school (Required)
- Current Registered Nurse License in this state (Illinois)
- BLS and ACLS(Required)
- General clinical competency in acute patient care
- 4-5 years of PACU/SDS ED ICU or Medsurg/Tele (Required)
- Ability to work variable hours
- Adaptive to learn new techniques and skills in the OR
- Experience in spine ortho and robotic surgeries
- Have a good knowledge of inventory and supplies in the operating room
