POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Childrens Respite program at Bethesda requires one (1) Respite Facilitator. Working to promote Bethesdas values vision and mission statement and quality client care the Respite Facilitator will work with children who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The duration of the contract is seven (7) months.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Support children/youth engaging in risk behaviour while remaining calm neutral and effectively using non-violent crisis intervention strategies.
- Assist caregivers completing funding applications and reconciliation forms and program registration documentation.
- Review service options with new referrals.
- Complete intake forms.
- Facilitates appropriate internal and community referrals.
- Monitor wait lists and schedule clients for service.
- Monitor and confirm program registration.
- Lead facilitation of individual and group based Respite Services. Maintain client records and complete documentation as required.
- Develop curriculum and resources for individual and group based recreational services.
- Develop resources and program materials.
- Facilitate community connections program registrations and referrals and share resources.
- Provide Resource Consultation Services.
- Provide Brief Clinical Consultation Services.
- Investigate ideas and plan the integration of engaging community activities into service options.
- Provide coaching and support to Caregivers Community Partners CYS Team Members and Students.
- Collaborate with Community Partners and Interdisciplinary Team Members.
- Actively participate in administrative team meetings.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Actively participate in team meetings and provide suggestions creative ideas and recommendations for strengthening CYS.
- Comply with Bethesda policies and procedures relating to health and safety.
- Responsible for reporting all health and safety concerns immediately following the Internal Responsibility System.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in Human Behaviour and/or Developmental Psychology or College diploma and comparable training in a related field.
- Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorders and experience supporting children with this diagnosis.
- Experience providing ABA supports to individuals with Autism.
- Knowledge and experience using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principals.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Valid Drivers License.
- First Aid Training and CPR Certification.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certified.
- Professional Communication Skills: professionally represents the company through strong communication skills both oral and written.
- Teamwork: excels at working with others and communicating with a team to provide the most effective support to clients.
- Problem-Solving: able to navigate challenges and barriers always looks for potential pitfalls and risks to help mitigate problems ahead of time and knows when to ask for help.
- Proactive: anticipates and solves problems and issues before they are brought to your attention
- Fluent in French is an asset
Good attendance is mandatory and must be demonstrated in previous positions. A clean disciplinary record is required.
